R. Stephan Toman has been carving professionally in New York’s mid-Hudson Valley for almost a quarter century, and is recognized as one of the most gifted woodcarvers in North America. He has been the chief carver for William H. Jackson, Co. since 1999. His work has been showcased in Hudson Valley Magazine and he has been a guest instructor at the prestigious Marc Adams School of Woodworking in Franklin, Indiana.
Sonrise Woodcarving Studio with its cooperative association of master woodwrights and furnituremakers offers exceptional custom handcarving and sculpture, hand-finished machine carvings for architectural detailing and replication, unique custom designed furniture and cabinetry, and custom profiled premium millwork to discriminating private and business clients desiring woodwork crafted to masterpiece standards. We can create original designs for you or work from your supplied designs. Our specialties include extraordinary family crests, mantelpieces and fireplace surrounds, and Greene & Greene influenced furniture. We are able to work with the full palette of the world’s most exquisite veneers to create stunning effects in our designs.
