The New England School of Metalwork is a full non-profit 501 C-3 organization started in 1999 to strengthen and promote the blacksmithing and welding trades. With corporate and private sponsors the school offers a wide array of welding classes for individuals and companies as well. Its highlight revolves around the Blacksmithing Summer Session which focuses on 14 artists in residence programs which run 4 to 5 days long. Top professional artist from all over the country will teach you their secrets of the trade. We are conveniently located in Auburn Maine between Augusta and Portland, only five minutes from the Maine Turnpike. Open all year long with evening classes, winter classes and many specialty topics including blade and sword smithing, casting, tool making, traditional and contemporary forged sculpture. The school also offers an eight booth Mobile Weld Training facility which is fully capable in all areas of welding and can travel to any location. We have locations in Hooksett NH and Auburn ME.
