Leatherwood has been a integral part of the community since it’s inception in 1981, developing an extensive resume that includes many high profile projects including several Presidential homes, National Landmarks, National Monuments, National Treasures, and numerous house museums. Many of our projects have been featured in magazines and newspapers across the Nation, as well as in other forms of media, including the Discovery Channel and HGTV. Leatherwood has also won national, regional, and local awards for its efforts in historic restoration.
Sustainability begins with preservation and Leatherwood’s primary work is in the field of preservation and restoration. We have a fabrication shop that specializes in processing vintage wood for use in both restorations and sympathetic historic replications. Using both reclaimed vintage wood and river recovered logs (ancient sinkers in the Tennessee River), our custom sawmill can produce extraordinarily long material to meet our client’s needs and specifications. Leatherwood’s skill in concept development and construction, combined with our knowledge and dedication to the field of historic restoration, the environment and many years of experience have given us the reputation as the best in the business.
