Monumental Entrance Gates

The Interior Courtyard Gate at the main entrance of the Dakota on 72nd Street and Central Park West is a study in the metal arts, as an eact reproduction of the much-photographed gates on 72nd Street. The gate is structured as a secure double walk gate with a full header spanning the courtyard entrance.

The main body of the gate is a screen of unusual forged scrollwork ending in leaf forms and festooned with hand-hammered rosettes. Bronze acanthus leaves, cast from patterns skillfully repoussed in heavy bronze, mount the vertical gate members, which are crowned by wide four-leaved bronze finials and upset-forged iron terminals

A massive, scrolled finial crowns the gate. Across the body of the gate, three-dimensional scrolled and pierced Renaissance sheet metal work marks the gate centerline and frames the bottom of the gate, Domed circles and tiny floral rosettes match the ornamentation of the exterior gate.

The Interior Courtyard Gate is an introduction to our standards and wide range of work, and is a starting point for discussion and ideas about your project. See more of our work at http://www.iceforge.com.
