Fine Architectural Millwork
Taylor's Mill has been providing excellence in custom woodworking services since 1984.
We serve the Mid-Atlantic region primarily, but we have shipped our products across the country and around the world.
Specializing in exacting reproduction of period millwork, we can copy, restore or design in any style that you may require. Here in the Delaware Valley we have many brilliant examples of 18th Centruy buildings and communities. Their proportion, composition and documentation have provided us with guidance and inspiration over the years.
We have performed a great deal of work in the Victorian styles as well. In the 19th Century, the influence of powerful new machine tooling provided craftsmen with the means to create more exuberant and complex millwork at reasonable rates. Fancy work and ornamentation took off.
As shops expanded to become regional suppliers, we start to see some standardization of trim profiles across our area in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. And not too much later the Craftsman Style work appears, as designers once again return to the appeal of simpler forms with the inference of hand work and use of wood figure as a feature.
Across our Quarter Century, plus, of work, I feel that there is no one Best Style; there is primarily the challenge of Good Design within the framework of each project.
We'll post a few photos here. Please drop us a line or call with your next project.
Thank you,
Bob Taylor
