Restoration Historic Bridges
This light was built to replace a light on the Anthony Wayne Suspension Bridge in Toledo, Ohio. There are four lights on top of the towers of the bridge. The bridge was completed in 1931.
One of the original lights fell off during a storm, and when it hit the deck of the bridge, it was shattered into pieces too small to be put back together. the original light was cast iron. The replacement was made from 1/2 inch plate steel. It also has 1/2 inch thick laminated glass that was special ordered.
Fabrication of the new light took about six weeks. the light is approximately 8 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 800 lbs.
