Theater Facade Restoration
The Simon Theater, built in 1925 and designed by Alfred C. Finn, includes retail space, a visitors' center, a ballroom, and theater. The main façadeand interior of the ground floor has been restored. We constructed new custom window sashes for the second floor and also new woodwork for the storefront. Notice the transoms above the plate glass windows (previously they had been covered with awnings). We also built new exterior doors with a new lobby entryway.
We based our replications on details we noted from close physical inspection, including "ghosting" (looking for shadow lines left in original paint layers and stucco), original hardware locations, and leftover jambs, trim, bits and pieces of original doors and window sash, in some cases partially demolished or buried. We also gleaned details from an examination of the original building plans.
